Just Dance

The Bit Before the Beginning

There’s a weird moment before you ever call yourself a “creator”.

You’re not making anything yet. You’ve not posted. You’ve not told your mates. You’ve definitely not added it to your LinkedIn.

You’re just thinking about it.

And that’s a bizarre place to be, because nobody talks about it. It’s not glamorous. It’s not viral. It’s not inspiring. It’s… quiet. Kind of lonely. A bit embarrassing if you’re honest with yourself.

That was me.

Not long ago, I had one of those days where you open your phone and just feel done. Not because people are doing badly — but because they’re doing so well and you’re sat there eating toast you dropped twice, wondering what happened to your potential.

I’d been talking for ages about “doing something”. A blog, maybe. Or videos. Or writing a book. Or building a page. I was drowning in ideas I never actioned, swimming lengths in the pool of “what ifs”.

And then one evening, sat in that quiet gap between “ambition” and “action”, I felt the nudge.

Not a voice. Not a bolt of lightning. Just… a shrug from the soul.

“Go on then. Try it.”

Not “try it because it’ll go viral”. Not “because you’ll make money”. Not “because someone will clap”. Just try it because maybe it’ll be fun.

That’s how every real creator starts.

Not with gear. Not with goals. Not with a brand vision.

But with a shrug.

So I opened my laptop. I didn’t know what to say, so I typed the words:

“No one’s going to read this. But I’m doing it anyway.”

And that was it. A first sentence. A first step. A bit of me spilled into something real. It didn’t look like much, but it felt like mine.

I didn’t know it then, but I had just taken the scariest step in the entire creator journey.

Not “scary” like skydiving. More like the kind of scary you feel when you admit something out loud for the first time. Like whispering, “I think I want this” into a room with nobody else in it.

It felt stupid. And freeing. And stupid again.

But I did it.

And if you’re reading this — maybe you’re there now. Sitting on the edge of “do I?”. Wondering if you’re “good enough”. Asking if it’s worth it.

Here’s your answer: Yes.

Not because you’ll be rich. Not because you’ll be famous.

But because something in you needs to move. Needs to speak. Needs to create something where nothing was.

And even if no one watches...

Dance anyway.
